Caring for your cotton
First wash
Wash before first use, on its own, warm (up to 40°C / 104°F). This sets the fibres and maximises absorbency.
Everyday washing
Wash with like colours on a normal cycle. Use about half the detergent you think you need — excess detergent coats cotton and reduces absorbency.
Skip the softener
Fabric softener leaves a waxy film that makes towels water-repellent over time. For extra softness, add half a cup of white vinegar to the rinse now and then.
Drying
Tumble dry low or line dry. Remove towels while still slightly damp and shake them out to lift the pile. Avoid high heat, which weakens cotton fibres.
Bedding
Wash duvet covers inside out, close all buttons first, and dry on low. A cool iron on linen blends is optional — most people like the relaxed look.
